First time usage: LCD shows Garbage

Hey guys,

I am facing a serious issue here. After the assembly of my I3 MK2 I wanted to power on my printer but the only thing that was shown on the display was garbage. A uploaded a video for clarifications:

I have no clue what to do. I switched ribbon cables to make sure none of them is broken but I see the same. Am I dealing with a defect LCD?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: First time usage: LCD shows Garbage

check the thermistors for the hotend and the heatbed for shortage. or just unplug the sensors from the rambo board and try again.
sometimes this is responsible for garbage at the lcd.

furthermore check the other threads about this issue, simply type "garbage" or "garbled" into the search field above...
especialliy this thread might be helfpul.

If this is the right schematic I don't think these both pins should be shortened!? It's Pin 3 an 4.

Since it's hand soldered there should be a visual verification before shipping. And what about attaching it to a running printer just to verify its functionality?

Re: First time usage: LCD shows Garbage

Hi,
I have the same issue here.
I tried to unplugged/plugged every related cables, push the processor on the pcd, check for bad soldering, all this without success.
Moreover, when I connect with pronterface, I have this message:
Extruder switched off. MINTEMP triggered !
Error:Printer stopped due to errors. Fix the error and use M999 to restart. (Temperature is reset. Set it after restarting)
[ERROR] Error:Printer stopped due to errors. Fix the error and use M999 to restart. (Temperature is reset. Set it after restarting)
Any more clues ?

Re: First time usage: LCD shows Garbage

Hi !
I deconnected all wires and reconnected each one, one by one. I discrovered that the LCD is working until I connect the heatbead thermistor cable. So now I know the source of the problem. I don't know the solution though ...

Re: First time usage: LCD shows Garbage

So, a friend of mine gave me his heatbed to validate if the issue was the bed or the PCB and I have exactly the same result. Therefore, I know it's the PCB the issue. You can see on the attached images the two bed and the lcd garbage.

Re: First time usage: LCD shows Garbage

so it seems that the pullup resistor inside the atmega2560 at your rambo is defective.
in my opinion this requires the replacement of the mini rambo.

so you can claim either a warranty case or compile the firmware for using the other, free thermistor port (T1 instead of T0).
