First (complex) print, Adalinda

Hi All,

So, after spending a couple of days building the kit I finally got around to printing.

(Naturally I did several calibration prints first, and also two Prusa-name-plate-thingies™.)

So here is the first complex print I just left running over night:

It has a bit of Z banding (highlighted with the help of a flashlight), but overall I'm satisfied for a first print.
Any suggestions for making it even smoother on the sides? Or what could be causing it?
All the calibrations (xyz etc.) reported no issue, and everything feels more or less solid (minus the miniscule movement from the bearings).

-Pre-sliced Adalinda from the SD card
-Devil Design PLA
-Silent mode
-215c nozzle, 60c bed
-Flow cranked up to 113

To be honest, I don't see anything wrong with this print.
I think the pre sliced version is at 0.2mm layer height, correct? What you could do is slice one yourself at 0.1mm for example, you'll notice the layers much less then.
But besides that a 3D print with an FDM printer will never be super smooth without sanding, filling, ...

Yeah, it seems most of it is just the layers being visible. And it looks worse due to the flashlight highlighting and dropping shadows everywhere.

But if you for example look on the wing (in the background, where the layer lines are blurred due to camera focus), there are horizontal thicker lines/bulges that seem to be several layers thick.

Are those "just the way things are", or something that I messed up during assembly?

As you probably have guessed, I'm new to this and full of questions 🙂

2 things I'd try.
1. Slice it yourself, I've had minimal luck with the gcode on the sd card
2. You might slow the printer down a little, I've wondered if those wings don't flex a little at full speed....try tuning the speed to 80 or 90% if slicing it yourself doesn't work.

My first attempt (with the packaged gCode...(3 good ones I sliced myself since) 😀
