Slic3r won't let me use Layer Editing feature . . . Wipe Tower? 😛
Hi all. I'm using the Prusa-edition of Slic3r and trying to use the layer editing feature to get smaller layers on a top sloping surface.
but when I try to use it it gives me the same warning:
"The Wipe Tower is currently only supported with constant Z layer spacing. Layer editing is not allowed"
I'm using the default PLA 1.75 settings with 0.20mm layer height.
printer is a Prusa i3 MK2

have you tried single mode?
I dont know if you can use layer editing with multi materials but you should be able to in "Original Prusa i3 MK2 MM Single Mode" .
but you may want to check this.
also if you go to "Printer Setting/General" on Slic3r and at the bottom there is an option for "Enable variable layer height feature" this will turn it on for you but I am not sure if this will work with the multi mode and wipe tower , you may want to stick to single mode for this but I could be wrong.
I was able to load up Slic3r for the MK2 and set it to MM single mode and enable the layer editing and it let me generate and export the G-code but not on the MM mode.
so single mode it should still work

Just tried. No-go. I found the "Enable variable layer height feature"; it was already checked. I set the printer profile to MM Single Mode. Even though my printer is just the regular Mk2.
I've opened up a different .stl file and did no other modification EXCEPT trying layer editing. Same warning.
It seems there's something in the pre-loaded Prusa profile settings that's keeping the variable layer height from working.
Very frustrating. I could REALLY use this feature on this particular piece. My only option is to just set the entire object to print at 0.05. which is really unnecessary for 90% of it.

Figured it out!
Under "Print Settings/Multiple Extruders/Wipe Tower". This is checked "Enabled" by default for some reason. Just had to uncheck it.

But i changed some setting above some length settings and now it's working...
