Problems with first prints

Hey all,

I recently bought my prusa i3 and build it up.

The first prints including the prusa logo were successfull.

However, I wanted to print some more advanved objects, like the finger digger.

I ran into two problems both with a small ring.
1) When the ring lies flat, I get a gap in the wall, which I was not able to remove with different settings

2) When the ring stands upright, it seems to "flow" or "collapse" during print

Do you have any idea where my models might be corrupt, I calibrated the printer incorrectly or what else I could have done wrong?

I attatched both gcode files in a zip, but most relevant settings are:
layer height: 0.2mm
fill density: 100%
nozzle size: 0.4mm
nozzle temp: 210°
bed temp: 50°
Slicer: Cura
material Yellow pla (delivered with printer)

I would be happy to get same tipps,

thanks,
alexander

Re: Problems with first prints

Hi Alexander

When slicing, the object must be oriented for best printing. Also the object should ideally match the extrusion width of the printer.

There are a couple of things you could do:

Try a different slicer. A different slicer would work differently. I very rarely use Cura as I find the printed quality not as good as other slicers. Basically, it is a quick and simple slicer.

Try reducing the number of loops on the print of this particular object. Reducing the number of loops will increase the central gap which will then be filled with diagonal lines.
