Knowledge Exchange - Best 3D Print Settings

Hello everybody

Is it a pain for you to spend a lot of time for experimenting on print settings until you find the best combination? This is exactly what I experienced.
For this reason, I want to collect the knowledge and experiences of the community to make 3D printing easier for each other. I started to build up a database for printer models, filament types and filament provider. The target is to share the results with you and make 3D printing easier! If you like the idea and if you are interested in the best practices from other users, it would be great if you help us to grow by sharing your experiences in return. It takes you 1-2 minutes (per setting combination - printer model, filament type, filament provider) to fill out the survey and make a big contribution to the printing community.

Thanks for helping to build up this database!

Re: Knowledge Exchange - Best 3D Print Settings

nice idea.... but far to perfunctory. 🙄

💡 3D print settings for the filaments are much more complex to deal with than with temperature, filament brand and layer height.
that's why there will always be big growing threads about the different problems/solutions/recommendations.... and even if i dissapoint you: it's more worth to read and understand them as setting up a quick survey !

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

I have exacly such a database in Excel 😉

Can share settings if you're interrested.

But I agree with Jeff. It's not just that easy as it looks. There are much more parameter and tweaks to do. It also depends on your "skill level".

Hi Thomas

I totally agree with you and Jeff. You are absolutely right that these questions are not comparable with the information that a slicer like cura can provide. This is not the target - at least not at the moment. However, I figured out that a structured database with the most important experiences from other users would deliver great value for a big part of the printing community. The factors taken into account (nozzle temperature etc.) are limited, otherwise it would be a huge effort for the user to share it. I am still trying to find the sweet spot of how to provide valuable information and keep the effort for the user as small as possible. I appreciate every kind of help in order to achieve this.

It would be really great to view your settings. If you are interested, I can share the collected settings for Prusa Printers with you as well.

Best
Moritz

Hi Jeff

Thanks for your input. I agree that this is a simplified version for printing settings. However, I am convinced that this level of detail can already deliver benefits to users that are new to the printer and filament. As I said to Thomas, I am still trying to find the sweet spot of how to provide valuable information and keep the effort for the user as small as possible, and I appreciate any kind of help in order to achieve this.

Thanks
Moritz
