Issue with prusa's Slic3r
I was trying to print a part for my webcam ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1376200 ) and came up with an odd slicer problem. The prusa edition of Slic3r likes to add a few layers of floor. The 3d render shows the part properly:
When I go to view how the layers turn out, there are a few solid layers added between the square and round section. I tried changing every setting, and it doesn't seem to help. Nobody on thingiverse seems to have this issue. Any suggestions?
Re: Issue with prusa's Slic3r
I just tossed the file int Netfabb Basic (free) and it reported non-manifold edges. I.e. the files internal geometry is "poor". Some slicers deal with this issue better than others. Fix: run it through netfabb, either the freeware version or the cloud service or any other "stl repair tool" (supposedly Win10s 3D-Builder is good at fixing stl as well)
Re: Issue with prusa's Slic3r
Thanks for the response. I have heard about repairing stl files, but never really got an explanation of why they would need repairing, what was wrong with them, or what would happen if you didn't. Your explanation along with my own experience kind of cleared it all up.
