Gaps in top layers

Hi everyone,

I can't seem to fix this issue. I have tweaked the Z-Adjust so that the first layer comes out fine with no gaps. But when printing an object with many solid layers you can see that there are gaps. It seems to be only in certain areas. I thought the auto level during each print takes care of this?

Here is a picture of the issue:

Thanks!

Looks like underextrusion. try to raise the extrusion multiplier a bit to see if it goes away. if it Fixes it you can go ahead and calibrate it properly

I have increased the "Flow" in the Prusa LCD Menu to 110. And it looks a lot better now. Is this the same as the extrusion multiplier?
Side note, I am printing with PLA.

Also, what do you mean with calibrate it properly?

Re: Gaps in top layers

I have never used the Flow setting in the LCD but I mean in the slicer if you Use Slic3r in Filament Settings you will see the setting Extrusion multiplier

Also, I am sorry ut thinking about it more calibrating the firmware is not the best option since the firmware changes a lot in Prusa printers so is not really the best solution.

Things to check:
make sure your extruder is super clean by doing a few cold pulls
measure the diameter of your filament. (sometimes the tolerances are off)
Make sure your idler is not too loose or too tight

I will try setting the extrusion multiplier to 1.1 in the next print and see if that works, Idler screws are tightend as per manual, about 13mm spring length.

Which of the Slic3r presets are you using?

I was using the 0.2mm preset

Re: Gaps in top layers

1.1 is too much so if you need to go that high then there is something else wrong

Well I don't know what else could be wrong...

I just printed Adalinda in white ABS. Print turned out ok. But I noticed big ridges in the lower portion of the print. Towards the top they layers are much much better. This was printed in 0.2mm. Doesn't look like overextrusion to me, so Extrusion multiplier of 1.1 should be ok.

Yeah, I am not sure what those lines are. Doesn't really look like z wobble

Re: Gaps in top layers

Have you properly measured the filament diameter?

Re: Gaps in top layers

dude! same thing is happening to me! its bugging the crap out of me. -.- ive tried so many things, used diffeent slicers, different firmware versions, retightened all screws, used different filaments. im at a complete loss. i dont know where to go from here. its funny though. when i print a cube shape, it doesnt pop up at all. it only shows up in cylindrical shapes.

If you print the object in a different part of the bed like the corner, do you get the same pattern? Wonder if it is the MBL is contributing to the issue.
