Weird Artifacts

Hello,

I got this weird artifacts on this print, The other side of the print is perfect, also this is the first and only print I found such artifacts. I reprinted it and basically got the same artifacts at the same areas. When I looked into the slicer (S3D) I can see that in those spots the layer gets started, so I'm guessing it has to do with that. Anyone can advice me whats causing that and how to stop it?

Re: Weird Artifacts

They are layer seams. You will always have them, but you can make them less apparent. Try changing the retraction settings, or try googling "layer seams" for ideas 🙂

When linear advance will finally be available again, it should help too.

"Zits"

It's caused from the start/end of the outside perimeter.
Using S3D, look up "coasting", it will help, however you likely have larger issue lurking.

Print 2 of these little guys.

See if they fit together easily, with minimal friction (When dialed in right, it should). I'm guessing it wont. I think you have over-extrusion. This is a easy test. "Too tight." Lower extrusion multiplier. If it's "too loose" raise extrusion multiplier!

EDIT: I don't have my mk3 yet, so I don't have Linear Advance. It will GREATLY help that too! (assuming it's on...)

You can also line the seam up in a "less visible" spot. Sometimes such as an inside corner/notch. back, bottom, etc.

Thanks for the good advices.
Sean I printed those things, tey fit pretty well together. They stick together if i lift it touching only one, it might come off abit too easy imho. I'll start looking into that coasting feature.

Not over extrusion then! 😛

I'm not familar enough with Simply3D or the Mk3 (I don't have mine yet) to really give more advise.

Good luck though! 😛

I believe you're correct, it looks to be your start points... In Slic3r it would be seam position: random (that's what it looks like you're set at) You'll want to set it to something else like nearest, aligned or rear or whatever the S3D equivalent is. I'd love to figure out how to get rid of them all together but I guess it can't be done.
