Stuck on Selftest

Hey guys, this may be a really dumb question with a simple answer, but...

I just finished building my MK3 kit, but the selftest fails every time on the hotend check (it tells me the heater/thermistor aren't connected.) I've replugged both the thermistor and hotend into the EINSY several times, but the step always fails. I've also checked where the heater wires originate on the hotend to see if they are bridged or something, but all seems well. Is there something else I should try?

Side note - my print fan fails about a quater of the time when I run the tests - however if I run the test again, it works fine and passes. I replugged the cable multiple times, and have the same issue. I would massively appreciate any help!

Sounds a bit like cable breakage, but on a new printer?

You could test continuity between connector and the cable where it enters the heat sensor, if you have suitable attachments and multimeter.

Does the hotend actually heat up, but the heat increase is not being sensed, or does it stay cold? If so, then the heater is the issue.
