Selftest Error - Front Fan

My daughter and I just wrapped up our first Prusa build and unfortunately have run into an error. I want to run it past a few of you as I think I may have gotten a bad fan in my kit. 😡

I"m getting a Front Print fan error. The fan is not spinning up at all. The Extruder fan works great, but not the front fan. To further test, I switched the connections between the fans and that fan, even connected to a different fan slot on the board, still errored out. The wiring looks fine between the board and the fan, as well as the solder connections on the fan itself.

Is there something else I may be missing? Bummed I have to let the printer sit due to this.

To be clear- when you swapped it to the other fan connection... did the self test then say that the extruder fan has a problem?

I found the issue.

I pulled the Prusa sticker off the fan to take a closer look at the solder joints. The black wire solder joint had broken off and wasn't making any connection. Support sent me a new fan, which I swapped out and am good to go now.

Check those connections if you run into issues as well.

Re: Selftest Error - Front Fan

Same thing with me, but my issue was a broken wire where the fan wiring joins all the other wires in the loom on the way to the main board. The wires for this fan take a 90 degree turn, just behind the hot end. Not visible, but once I pulled the wire out and started manipulating it, it started spinning.

I've had my printer for a couple of years, and the slight motion here over time caused the small wire to fail. I replaced the wiring to the fan with a bigger gauge, silicone sheathed wire and no more problems!
