MINTEMP error due to ambient temperatures?

I was under the understanding that the ambient thermistor would allow printing in colder environments. My printer is in a bare cinder block basement, which is significantly colder than the rest of the house. I seem to keep getting MINTEMP errors on it regularly, especially during the evening. In the evenings, my HVAC is set to 18C so it's likely that the basement is dropping below 15-16C.

Sometimes it will print fine, but in the morning I'll find the finished print with the LCD displaying MINTEMP. Sometimes it'll preheat with no problems, run through the 9 point leveling, then freeze when it's about to print the priming bead and give the MINTEMP error.

I'm on the latest production firmware. I have no problems at all if I move the print up to my office and have never received a MINTEMP upstairs.

This morning I found a finished print with the MINTEMP error. I checked the temps and saw the head and bed both at 16, ambient at 19-20. However the HVAC had already kicked in an hour before to bring the house up to the AM setting of 20.6C. So I'm not sure what the temps hit when the error was thrown.

Re: MINTEMP error due to ambient temperatures?

If you do a temp calibration under menu, prusa says the best ambiemt temperature is 20 to 20's, i also have that error when is too cold, but i don't have an air conditioner, the solution is to preheat first for a amount of time for sensors get hot and not cause the error, or in your case use something to cover the printer. That temperature is too cold and can cause problems. For exemple you will never have ABS print well with that.

Also that MIN TEMP. error is a software thing and a restriction they have put, i don't understand why since it cause more problem than other good, eg: cause octoprint to disconnect

AC isnt' the issue, it's that I turn the heat down and keep it low even when running.

Thanks. I never plan on printing ABS as so far, PETG has everything for me that PLA has not been able to.

I don't mind preheating. The problem is that it's in the basement to separate it from the family. I operate it completely from Octoprint. When the printer gives MINTEMP, it drops connection from Octoprint, forcing me to make the trek down to the basement to manually deal with the issue. Frankly, I'd rather move the printer up to the office, but I'm concerned the light, noise, and fumes will bother my hedgehog that lives in that room.

it drops connection from Octoprint, but you can reconnect remotly without problem, at least i can do that, just press connect on interface and it restart the printer, and preheat again util no error
