Looking for details on cost of import/shipping fees.

I am about to order an assembled printer, and no one seems to be able to answer the question about import fees. The checkout states that shipping fee is $113.30, and is actually for "Shipping & Taxes" yet I live in a state that has 0 taxes, for anything sales related. And the site says that shipping for a printer starts at $70, so what is the extra $50 for? Is it to pay for the import fees?

When I look at UPS site it says there is no import or duty fees if you ship into the US with worldwide express saver, and that is one of the options I can pick(Well close to the same wording with 'UPS Express Saver'), but again support chat will not come out, and confirm that that is the exact shipping being used and if there will be any fees needed by me when it is delivered.

Please tell me if you who have ordered an assembled kit and used UPS to the US had any fees, and what they were.

Assembled printer cost more to ship than a kit.

Yes, but I was told that kits ship for $50. I am still trying to figure out why there is a 'tax' when I don't have to pay taxes lol.

Honestly I am just looking to see what the fees will be when it arrives on top of the cost I am already paying to ship, I hate that shipping doesn't include this as part of it

Re: Looking for details on cost of import/shipping fees.

I live in the US, my printer kit shipped for $70 back in early March. There were no additional taxes or import duties or fees due when it arrived. I'm sure the kit would cost more to ship, it is a larger box and every shipping company I deal with charges based on "dimensional weight".

Just for giggles, I went to Prusa's e-store and added a mk3 kit to my shopping cart. They are showing a discounted shipping rate for mk3 kits only of $49.55 right now. I removed the kit and added an assembled mk3 printer. UPS expedited 3-5 days shipping is $99.96.

If you are adding any additional rolls of filament or anything large like that, it ships attached to the outside of the printer box. The cost of shipping will increase. Are you adding anything else to your order?

There were no additional fees in addition to the $50 dollars shipping when I purchased my kit.

What additional fees are you talking about?

Jeffrey,
The extra amount, and you won't know what it is until it arrives at your door is for IMPORT taxes. Anything ordered overseas and shipped to the states requires these taxes. It's not a matter of what state you are in, this is being shipped in to America so these taxes will be required.
The key factor is the price! Anything under $800 will not be taxed for IMPORT. This is the main reason PRUSA has cut the shipping in half. When you add the price of a KIT to the "reduced shipping" cost the total is less than $800.

If you search the internet for "united states import tax calculator" several links will show up. It looks like it depends on size/weight, what it is and where it's going. Be sure to narrow your search to the last year or less to get current information.

By the way, from what I've read on this post you have to pay the person/delivery service the IMPORT/DUTY tax upon delivery.

In the US, got my fully assembled over a month ago. Did not pay the driver or anyone else. My payment to Prusa was only cost.

This is the info I was looking for! Thanks! So you paid for, and ordered a fully assembled kit from Prusa, and when it arrived you didn't have to pay the driver any additional fees?

What service, and shipping option did you choose? And what was the cost?

When I ordered my assembled the only option was 3 day shipping. Cost was either $49 or $99 not sure.

Don't expect delivery in three days, there is a delay that is not counted on both the Export side when shipped out of Europe and an Import side when it gets to the States.

Gman, what was your total time?

My kit was held up for two days in Germany and two in the LA hub.
