firmware unload filament setting

Dear beneficent Firmware Lords,

Please allow us the privilege of unloading filament at 170C. It works just fine, trust me.

Sincerely,
One of the peons

Re: firmware unload filament setting

Not necesarilly. A lot of users have problem that filament is stuck when unloading because of small bump which remains at the end. I guess they lifted temp because they tested that bump is smaller when unloading at higher temperature...

Although, if we're on the topic:

Is it possible to lower the volume of the beeper when unloading filament? Holy hell its obnoxiously loud when I'm trying not to wake anybody up.

Re: firmware unload filament setting

That's easiest thing to do: disassemble LCD panel and put some tape on a beeper hole. Beeper is right beside LCD, above encoder.

Re: firmware unload filament setting

i find sometimes if i want to change filament with auto sensor enabled, if i preheat via octoprint, it doesnt have an option in the menu to unload filament. My only option at that point is to go into tune, and select change color, which moves the extruder to right front of heat bed. kind of annoying when i just want to change the filament when preheating before a print.

Blu-Tac works far better than tape for an obnoxious beeper...

There are Plugins for Octoprint that would enable this. I've put other commands in there but I still use the menu on the LCD to do an Unload.

The plugins are:

https://plugins.octoprint.org/plugins/customControl/
https://plugins.octoprint.org/plugins/TerminalCommands/

Which one you use would depend on where you want to do it for. Personally, if I were to do it I would do it in the Custom Control next to a button that I had set up for whatever temp I wanted to preheat to.

You could use the command:

G1 E-100 F200

This would feed 100mm in reverse at 200mm/minute.

EDIT: I just re-read your post. You have auto sensor enabled. I turned mine off as I wanted manual load/unload. I'll keep the post up in case it's helpful to anyone else.
