e3D Volcano

Has anyone got an e3D Volcano working with their mk3? I've tried messing with the firmware but it's refusing to compile. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

I didn't realize the volcano needed new firmware, I thought it was a slot-in replacement? Except for the physical modding needed, obviously. What changes to the firmware are necessary? Does it use a different thermistor?

From my experience using a Volcano on my MK2s, the only major difference is the loss of 8mm on the Z axis. Everything else is the same as with a standard v6.
I never bothered correcting this in firmware, since the calibration v2 gcode handled it fine, but it does prevent using the Z calibration from the menu (nozzle crash). If the MK3's baked-in calibration handles like the v2 gcode (slow descent above 0,0, stopping when the probe picks up metal), it should just be a matter of changing the max Z height in the slicer.

Syrc, can you show me how you got around the issue (with your slicer settings?) I'm not quite sure I get what you mean. Thanks in advance 🙂
although I would like to have Z calibration for convenience hahaha I can live without it though

Sorry, I forgot all about this thread until now. In Cura, I went into machine settings (settings -> printer -> manage printers -> machine settings), reduced the Z height by 8mm, and increased the gantry height by 8mm. For the most part, you don't even need to change these except for sequential printing, as the auto-calibration before a print will figure out how high the nozzle should be.
