anyone had to jury rigg the X axis belt to keep it from rubbing
I had to add 2 washers to each motor mount screw to keep the belt from rubbing the orange housing and failing the self test. Did I do something wrong? has anyone else had this problem?

Are you sure you pushed the pulley all the way down onto the motor shaft?
Re: anyone had to jury rigg the X axis belt to keep it from rubbing
yeah that was the first thing I checked. With out the washers it was actually twisting the belt and the rubbing from just the self test was starting to leave pieces of the belt on the housing

Pretty sure the pully is backwards. Flip it around. I did the wrong thing originally as well.

well that would make sense I will give that a try and report back. That worked... I just put my Donkey ears on.

I did it during my build. So use to the fatter part being closer to the motor.

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing during the build. Luckily I figured it out before moving on the next step. I thought they might want to emphasize the correct pulley placement in the directions since it is the opposite of the way the Y axis motor pulley is placed. That's why is made the mistake. When it was time to put the pulley on, I just looked at the Y axis motor and placed it the same way. Later, when I noticed the rubbing, I too had to re-do the step.
For those waiting to build.. FYI the Y axis motor pulley and the X axis motor pulley are installed exactly opposite of each other.

Maybe a photo with the grub screw turned to the camera would have helped a bit.
Just a thought,
Neal

me too but it took until the self test for me to figure it out. had fun switching the pulley around but did get it to work
