i3 Y Axis Vibration Dampening Feet

I saw that there was some updated firmware to reduce noise during printing and also some vibration dampening feet designed to go under the Y axis threaded rods. I updated the firmware and downloaded the feet. There seems to be in error (I think) in the gcode for printing the feet out in ABS on a 1.75mm printer. It wants to turn on the fan, which ruins the print. The .STL included in the .zip file along with the .gcode files also appears to be for a solid model. AFAIK, only an extruded outline of the model is meant to be printed, in order to give the feet a degree of springiness to dampen vibration. I am not sure how to hollow out the STL file so that it prints just the periphery without a "roof" and "floor" and with no infil material in the middle. Anyone able to assist?

I am pretty sure the finished model is meant to look something like this:

its easy, set zero value for top and bottom solid layers and 0% infill in Slic3r. You can use 2 or 3 perimeters.

Re: i3 Y Axis Vibration Dampening Feet

I just made and started using these dampening feet...all I can say is WOW 😯 ! My single biggest issue has been the sound and vibration from the printer. In the daytime it's not so big of a deal, but at night it seemed to echo and you could feel the vibrations in the next room. Even with the quite printing FW and using a vibration dampening rubber mat under the printer the noise was still unacceptably loud. However, after adding the Y axis vibration dampening feet (I'm using 6) by far the loudest part of the printer is the E3D and blower fans; maybe a little rattling from the clips on the glass. In other words, you can sleep like a baby even if it's printing right next to you. Very nice upgrade.
