Great Bearings SKF Linear Bearing LBBR 8-2LS/HV6
I ordered 6 SKF Linear Bearings LBBR 8-2LS/HV6 and installed them last night. Let me tell you the quality difference between the standard linear bearings vs the SKF are night and day difference. My prusa I3 MK2 was only 4 months old but the bearings sounded horrible. The new SKF bearings have 8 rows of balls bearings inside vs the oem 4 rows of bearings. The SKF housing is a polymer based housing which I think also cuts down on any resonance the metal housings traditionally have with ball bearings. While the bearings were basically $20 a pop with shipping and aren't exactly cheap, it's definitely worth the noise difference alone.

I emailed Prusa store today to see what bearings and polished rods they sell in the MK2S kit as I'm interested at the very least in the polished rails. That and if the bearings are decent quality then I'd just use that for the Z axis instead of the OEM bearings. Otherwise I'm planning on ordering 4 SKF bearings for the Z axis. I'll post here once I hear back from them about what bearings the MKS kit uses now.

Screws for plastic that hold well. I ordered these screws for another project and they worked well for the bearing holder but I did have to cut an 1/8 inch off or so.

I also filled the bearings 20% or so with Grease even though they come pre-greased lightly from SKF.

The problem with bearings holders like that is that you are trusting your alignment 100%.
The zip ties, as well as the new U bolts allow for some "self alignment".

Only one side of each bearing track on those SKF bearings would actually touch the rod.
If both sides of each track touched the rod it would either not slide at all or just be really rough.
So the one in that photo likely only has 4 or 5 rows of balls.
You can also tell from there only being 2 of the steel inserts visible in the top down shot.
That is what takes the load from each row of bearings since it does have the plastic cage.
That said, I am sure they are still a much higher quality than the cheapo chinese ones flooding the market for 3d printers.

Just to let others know,
these do not work. They are slightly larger, and the rails on the outside of the bearing acts a load on the internal balls. This means if you use the U mount, it pushes the balls tighter which causes squeeks.
Furthermore, the internal diameter is .2-.5mm (guesstimate) too large for stock guide rods. Because of this, the bed can wobble (when provided force) 1-2mm.
These bearings are very high quality but you need a pretension design or else it'll be not be fun.

just stumbled upon this old post and wanted to ask about your long-term experience with the SKF bearings.
I'm abou to install some mods to my mk3 and was considerng to upgrade the bearings to SKF ones. Are you still happy with them? And the bearing holders?
One user (just above) mentioned the SKF ones don't fit ...? Any thoughts on that?

these do not work.
Absolute nonsense but you do need to change out the whole system. I replaced rods and bearings, I purchased cut to order rods at H7 tolerance, the rods should NOT be tight in the bearings, do some searching about linear rod / bearing tolerances and you will realise quickly how bad the originals are. The rods and bearings supplied with the 'kit' aren't the best - mine are still in the box.
As for the bed moving in ways you do not want it does that anyhow even with high end rods and bearings, the mounting design for the bed is extremely poor, one day I'll sort it out. Detecting the end of travel by overcurrent on steppers caused by crashing into the ends is really poor - watch the bed twist around the Z axis when this happens ...
Many of the issues on these printers though is 100% down to poor build standards and set up - yes I know some will not like this statement. But the problem is mostly in the chair not the machine, some is down to buying cheap and nasty PLA etc - the latter makes a massive difference in results / consistency.
I've run SKF bearings for over a year, they are pretty much silent and my rods totally unmarked.
Be careful with grease in any linear bearing, the balls are supposed to roll and need some traction on the rod to do this, it is when balls cannot roll and slide instead that problems start. I've not added any grease since I got them.

Are those vesconite? If so I have them on my printer and have been quite happy with the noise and print quality. Moreso the peace of mind knowing my rods aren't being scored to hell.

Thanks for your answer, Yes indeed. those are vesconite. Its a picture I ve found at the vesconite website. What is the texture like? Is more like a silicon? Or more like ABS?
I was wondering to use normal PLA. Why not? This should be better than metal to metal friction... What do you think? Are there any test going on in internet?
