never got on with gluestick on 3d printers

on the mk1 with glass, I prefered to use ABS Juice.

on the mk2, mk2mmuv1 and mk3 I just use PEI stickers... and now Powder coat PEI

but only print PLA, PETG and TPU...

At first, I had nto problem getting prints off the bed. Now, I have parts of the print, especially the brim, that stick to the bed and leave bits behind. I used a glue stick from Kores and it does nto happen any more.

I use Elmer's School Glue Stick. The purple stuff. It's not common in the UK, but I got three sticks for a pound off Amazon the other day.
Easily the best one I've found.

I've tried other paper stick glues and they're mostly too soft.

I sometimes print directly on the PEI sheet, but with PETG it needs the glue to release IMHO.

I always print with PETG, and the bed adhesion to bare PEI was far too much. I tried Windex, but that didn't work for me.
From experience with a previous printer, I had plenty of Scotch Craft Stick on hand, and that's what I used until the stick ran out. Then I tried the Kores that came with my MK3 kit - but it didn't have enough adhesion. So I'm back to using Craft Stick. The Elmer's School Glue (the kind that goes on purple but dries clear) is also fine; in my previous experience it bonds even tighter than the Craft Stick, a little more than what I want most of the time.

Thanks guys. I will give them a try. I never have a problem with PLA. PETG and ABS gives me fits not on some beds. I have found that glue sticks seem to reduce adhesion after cooling while still maintain adequate during the headed phase.

On smooth PEI sheets? Do you use the same Z distance as PLA or higher? What bed temperature do you use?

I had two occasions where over-adhesion with glass and PLA itself ripped off huge chunks off the surface, so I'd like to avoid ripping off chunks of PEI 😉

No. It washes off with soap and water.

smooth sheet, yes.

I had a couple of cracks from a very long, heavily brimmed PC print that I was careless with and just ripped off with pliers, and a small chunk from some petg on the same spot and even then it was still 100% usable and I mostly ignored it. Prior to that I'd been using the same side of my original sheet for over a year without issue.

I ran PC at 280/120 for awhile but thats not needed at all, now I use 260/80. PC/PETG I use about .1-.2 less than PLA.

I absolutely destroyed the other side when I started a petg print after replacing rods and bearings without recalibrating Z and the nozzle buried itself into the PEI and manged to "print" a couple of layers before I noticed.
