Sudden massive print failures

I've started getting some sudden massive print fails on my MK3S+

They don't appear to be flukes, as I've printed a few objects that have virtually identical errors of fraying at a certain level and then printing the upper levels in a "wobbly" manner.

All I can remember changing prior to these issues is a custom gcode at certain layers. I think it was M220 S90 and then M220 S100 to slow down print speed for a section that wasn't printing great.

Before this big problem I started having one or two layers with a gap/ section missing around the same place towards the bottom. Looked like a small aesthetic problem more than anything, but perhaps it's connected.

I've now switched nozzle size and settings to see if this resolves the issue but it'd be nice to identify what went wrong.

Makes me think this is related to an issue with the model itself, not with any settings. Perhaps a region where wall thickness is not enough.

But without seeing your model and your settings, who knows. So here goes my copy-and-paste:

Everything is going to be wild guesses without more data. If you upload your project as a 3mf file, you're likely to get better advice grounded in data. A 3mf file contains your STL but most importantly also ALL your settings.

In PrusaSlicer, go to File/Save project as, to create the 3mf file. Zip-compress it to turn it into a .zip file (right-click Compress on Mac and Win11, right-click Send to/Compress on Win 10). Attach the zipped file a post on this forum using Attach file below the text edit box. It has to be a zip file, or the forum software will silently reject it.

RE: Sudden massive print failures

I suspected the model itself also, but now I'm printing the same model on a 0.8mm nozzle and it appears to be fine. I'll attach the 3mf if I re-experience this on the larger nozzle. The problem initially switched to a terrible z-seam, which I've experienced before on my Revo 6 with larger nozzle sizes. So I've upped the "extra length on restart" and filament "extrusion multiplier". Hopefully that's enough.

I need to print a bunch of objects to an upcoming deadline, so I appreciate the help.

Makes me even more suspicious of the model. The walls may be of a width that maybe they're fine with a 0.8mm nozzle but may require gap infill with a 0.4mm nozzle, which can easily lead to artifacts. Without the 3mf, impossible to tell. Hope the 0.8mm nozzle will solve your problem.
