Project File expert?

Does anyone know of a service where you can send a stl file (see attached) and have a Prusa MK3 expert send back an optimal Project file (.3MF) that will make the best quality print using ESun PLA for that specific shape?

I've use the map in the community tab to find people close to me. You can filter to those who are willing to provide such a service. It's worked well for me before I had a larger MK3S.

There are some very clever people on this board who give their time for free. Zip your .STL and post it here.

Have you tried slicing it yourself using the generic PLA settings in PrusaSlicer?

What we’re your results?

It’s typically more helpful to save to as a project file which includes all of your settings as well as the .stl. Again, zip the file before posting.

Cheers

Please see attached zipped file. I don't know if the results are the best they can be. I would like an expert to advise what the best settings are so that I will have the project file and apply it to other sizes of the same shape. I plan to make thousands of these type of pieces using ESun PLA. Thanks

It looks fairly straightforward.  The part wasn't designed with 3D printing in mind but it should print OK with, perhaps, a little support.  What were the problems you encountered?

Supporting is not an option. I have made the pieces with OK results but I don't know if the settings are giving me the best results possible. There seems to be a variety of settings that can be adjusted but I don't know what each does or if some even need to be used. Trial and error method is endless. I was hoping to find an experienced person who would know what settings should be applied to the shape and what those settings should be adjusted to, to make the most efficient project file.

Why?

There will be hundreds of pieces needed. Too much time would have to be spent on finishing the exterior surface. The interior is a cavity that does not require a smooth finish.

And what is the purpose of the inaccessible internal void?  Where do the stresses run?

The cavity is for inserting a specific quantity of ground steel shot to give the piece an adjustable weight within 8 grams. The pieces will not be under a significant amount of stress when they are used. The pin shape on the top is just a handle so they can be picked up and placed on a weigh scale. As long as the pin will not break if dropped on the floor from a counter or table. With 100% infill, the ESun PLA+ has tested to be strong enough. It's the quality of the exterior finish that I'd like to be the best it can be without being printed too slowly.

If you're going to be adding weight to the Y carriage you must be prepared to slow the print.

Why not split the part in two with a screw thread so you can add the weight post printing?

Do the surface recesses engage with anything?  Clearing the top and replacing with a pinch point would greatly simplify printing.

When the print pauses for a filament change of colour at the top of the cavity, I add the weight before the symbol and then the handle is printed.

Frankly I think it would be easier to export a set of parametric files and have them cnc milled from bar stock.
