problems printing wide cup with TPU

Hello,

I am having a very difficult time printing a wide hexagonal cup with TPU. The actual TPU material is from Overture. The SainSmart TPU filament was chosen for this print. Here is the project.

SlicerProject.3mf

Here are a couple images demonstrating the issues.

You might try grabbing the settings from this project I did a couple weeks ago

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-how-do-i-print-this-printing-help/lafactoriav1-mask-base-in-sainsmart-pastel-tpu-92a/

it should at least help with that stringing

I'm glad to see you made it up here, @ssill2 is very qualified to help, and Ill take a look at the file also.

There is a difference between to the Overture TPU prints much better then the SainSmart TPU in my experience and I have a great deal of both.

They will require different settings to succeed.

I'll get back to you.

well, if I learned anything it's from the filament whisperer 🙂   I've not actually tried the overture stuff.   I do know with the latest 3 spools of sainsmart pastel I got I had to up the extrusion multiplier a bit vs the pink and purple I had been using.  other than that the sainsmart prints ok.

I adjusted your .3mf file for the Overture settings I use I've changed several things, this should print very smoothly and without supports.

Here is the adjusted project file, tinker_Swiss.3mf Please let us know how you do.

Enjoy

I'm not saying SainSmart is bad, it's different then Overture, It prints differently and Ive been able to get Overture to do things that SainSmart just couldn't do. I feel after much use of both that Overture is of a higher quality TPU, I want to be very clear this is just my opinion and my experience.

In this case @ajcurtis was using the SainSmart profile to try and print Overture, I've corrected that.

and you have made some beautiful prints with the SainSmart.

I can't stand doing tpu lol, but my wife seems to want to do tpu for everything lol   I've much appreciated your help along the way in getting it to print as well as I have.

well, I have duel monitors that's how I do it, sometimes as I'm tuning a model I will open up two copies of Slicer one in each window, I know that's not helpful if you only have one monitor. another way might be to use a laptop next to your desktop and compare, but I don't know of a tool or app that will do it.

I have 2 monitors. Need to look at the notes regarding running multiple instances on a Mac.

When I opend the project file you sent, the filament was set to Esun ABS? I noticed Overture TPU in the drop down. I get these messages when I try to select.

The only esun I have is cleaning filament and I don't have a profile for that, the profile I sent you was one of my making and it is called Semiflex or Ninjaflex 85-98A if your seeing anything different it's a problem on your end.

have you recently used esun ABS filament?

Is anyone else seeing this when they open the project?

I have not used any ABS filament recently. All I know is that unzipped the archive and opened the project and that is see. I assume I should use the Overture TPU filament in that project?

I didn't set anything up by that name I can't tell you what is going on on your end, I actually started printing your model with Overture Blue TPU a little over and hour ago using the exact same profile I posted here, you are either confused about something or your software isn't acting properly I have know way to know which.

When I open the profile it shows this,

If your seeing something different, and your not sure what it is, then I wouldn't print it.

Sorry I couldn't help you

I don’t have any overture tpu or I’d give it a try.  I can try to open project in the morning  but I’m busy this evening though.

Your screen shows semi flex or ninja flex. I don’t remember that filament selection. Perhaps it just picked something when not found

Thank you, I just wanted someone other then myself to confirm that there wasn't a problem with the profile I posted, I wasn't needing anyone to try and print it, just open it and see that it loads correctly. I've not come across this happening before, but I don't just want to assume it's ajcurtis not understanding how the software works.

@ajcurtis

you should see semi flex or ninja flex, because I created that profile, and it should be embedded in the file you opened, if its not what your seeing then only 1 of 2 things can be true, either your software has a problem or you don't have an understanding of how to use the software. each of these requires a different response, so I'll have to wait and see if other folks are having the same issue you reported. In the mean time your print is currently running flawlessly on one of my printers, I'll post images when its done, it's an 18 hour print.
