Printing ABS parts for Voron
Hi all, I am attempting to print my Voron parts out of ABS on the MK3S, and am having the typical warpage. I am printing with the lack enclosure and at the base settings of generic ABS on PrusaSlicer. I have yet to find any settings that have worked continuously for anyone on this forum/Voron discord so any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
RE:
Do you need absolutely to print those parts of ABS ?. Isn't PETg good for your purpose ? ( For instance, the parts need to withstand temperatures too high for PETg ? )
Anyway, I never tried ABS (mainly for the smell/fumes aspect) but with the correct settings, printing inside an enclosure should keep warping under control, although that depends too on the specific brand of ABS.
An alternative to ABS, if PETG isn't OK, would be PC blend from Prusa. Cheaper than most polycarbonates and less prone to absorb humidity. Its stronger than ABS and stands better the heat. Warping is not really a problem, if you print inside the Lack enclosure and use plenty of glue stick on the bed.
RE: Printing ABS parts for Voron
Hi
I have printed all my voron parts in an lack enclosed prusa.
My trick was to use a glue to the print surface and since then I can print all the ABS parts there I want
The glue I bough on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079984GV5?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
It has been the best purchase I made for my prusa really for ABS
Hope it helps
RE: Printing ABS parts for Voron
I also use Layerneer for ABS prints and swear by it.
It acts as an adhesion booster and as a release agent.
I've printed quite a few ABS prints with the Prusa with very few issues.
RE: Printing ABS parts for Voron
I printed all my voron parts with ESun ABS+ in both red and black.
- Temperature was 255/100 first layer, 230/110 others.
- Also I added some cooling parameters (30% min/max, 50% for bridging).
I used a glue stick, in fact the one provided by Prusa. Nowadays I made some nice experiences with 3DLac ( https://www.amazon.de/Spr%C3%BChkleber-perfekte-Haftung-Drucker-Druckbett/dp/B01HQ4KXZ4 ).

IMAO, one advantage to using Layerneer (or Magigoo or Windex or ...) over glue stick is that the glue stick goes on much thicker and can leave an obvious impression on the bottom surface of the print.

I've seen a lot of your printed parts and they're great, so you clearly know what you're doing but isn't it a bit odd that something can simultaneously do two totally contradictory things (apart from a Woman obviously that's not misogyny it reality).
