RE: Polymaker PolyTerra PLA
@ssill2
I have to agree. Smooth printing filament and it adheres well and comes up with cooling.

and as you pointed out the cost is nice too

I have to agree. I like the colors and most appear rather matte.

RE: Polymaker PolyTerra PLA
I've been a fan of PolyMaker's stuff. Pricing is good and results are excellent. I had not seen the PolyTerra lineup before, but I have to say it checks all the boxes I'm looking for:
- Good print quality
- Low price
- Low waste or recyclable spool
Up until now, I've gone with Inland or Filastruder for price and spool-less option, Overture for the spools with gauges (for my non-Prusa printer without runout detection), and various pricier stuff for quality. This option pushes all my Goldilocks buttons. Now if they provided a spool-less option to boot, it would be ideal. Good find. I've got some on order. Thanks for sharing!

The spools are some sort of wood pulp mixture so biodegradable and they have a gauge lol. When I'm done with this mmu print I'll take a picture of one of the spools.

I think the spools of some sort of chip or pressboard.

Yeah particle board
RE: Polymaker PolyTerra PLA
They not only used particle board, but added the gauge which is a double win. Just to be clear, I'd still like a spool-less option because not using a spool is better than shipping and trying to recycle or responsibly dispose of even a "green" spool. Saving a buck or two would be nice, but not my primary motivator. I've got about a half-dozen of the old eSun spools that are great for using spool-less refills. A green refillable spool is probably hoping for too much.
Meanwhile, I've got about 60 spools boxed up that I can't find any practical use for other than one-offs like Christmas lights.

It's kinda sad really, how few suppliers offer the spool-less option, it would not only help the environment but it would help open the door to some very nice custom reusable spool options. I have several that I have developed for my own uses, but have to rewind the filament on to the spool myself instead of being able to just load it and cut the zips.

yeah, that seems a bit of a hassle for sure.
RE: Polymaker PolyTerra PLA
I have hundreds of these empty spools that I have to find a use for now. I really would prefer to have a reusable spool and buy non-spooled filament.

yeah I've only gone through 5 or 6 actual spools so far, close on several others, but I can see where this would start to be a big problem quickly. You can only make but so many of them into storage units lol I definitely like the particle board spools on this filament though as it feels less bad for the environment. hopefully more spool vendors will do this or the spool-less option.

Just to elaborate on the comment: it might adhere a little too well to my txt plate. I am going to try a release agent tonight and might raise my Z. This Z offset worked well with other filaments but this stuff is sticky.

matte
I absolutely love this stuff. It is a little sticky and tends to adhere more. The matte texture is awesome.

agree
the two colors I have print very well. I'll definitely buy some more spools when these are done.
colors
I have printed the orange, black, yellow, and darker blue. I have two more to try.
