PETG sticking to print sheet

'I haven't printed PETG for a while, just ran a print that needed supports

MK3S, sliced with prusaslicer using default temp settings

When it finished, it pulled the print sheet off the bed and flexed it, it did not immediately pop off the sheet.  I pulled it and it came away, but left some of the first layer supports - which I found incredibly difficult to remove.  I wound up using a wood chisel to scrape it off - I fear that side of the sheet is now ruined (I've ordered a new one.)

But the question remains - how could I have removed the remnants without messing up the sheet?  Flexing the sheet did not help, the remnant was too thin and just flexed along with it.  Would soaking it with acetone of lacquer thinner have done any good?

What do you all use to scrape leftovers off the sheet?

If printing PETG on a smooth sheet it is best to reduce adhesion with window cleaner or very thin, diluted, glue stick.

Sometimes a stuck print will lift if you puddle IPA around it and flex, sometimes it will pop off in the feezer.

Cheerio,

Thank you Diem, I'll give the freezer, window cleaner and glue stick a try

For scraping I’ve used an old credit card successfully in the past.

I was also using one of those plastic spackle spreaders, it was getting worn down by the PETG lol

@jeff-2

if you live in the US and/or have access to original Windex spray your smooth PEI sheet with it, and spread with a paper towel then heat your bed and print, you should find this a great working combo for the Smooth PEI sheet. Windex is unnecessary for the textured sheet and the satin sheet's with PETG.
