Ordered ASA, ABS-T arrived

I recently bought some stuff from the prusa shop - order included some PETG and I had ordered ASA because I wanted to try it.  My PETG came with my other stuff in my order, but when I looked at the second filament box that I expected to be ASA, it is labeled ABS-T.  I don't know how to print this - is there an ABS-T profile? Anyone hit this before I go figuring out what the heck this is?  It seems to need PETG nozzle temps with ABS bed temps.  What other surprises am I in for?

ASA prints like a dream, It prints much like PETG/ABS hybrid, ABS -T is crap, it can be printed well but its more trouble then it's worth in my opinion, it's main claim to fame is heat residence but really it's not much better then ABS which can be printed perfectly, don't fall for the hype.

Oh, to late you already did.

No, I ordered ABS, and they sent me a roll of ABS-T.  I would never order something I don't understand.  Chat is clogged with an hour wait.  Grrrr.  Useless spool of junk that I do not need clogging my shelf space.  Thanks all - ABS-T looks like a mistake and I'll have to wade thru prusa customer support to get them to realize someone picked the order incorrectly, or the ASA item is linked behind the scenes to ABS-T part #.

If it was me, I would honestly, send it back if you can, I've had experience with this product, and it's one of those not worth the time products, I'm not saying this lightly, everybody has figured out ABS and I'm not sure why they are trying to introduce this version, the benefits do not out weigh the problems of printing it. I've even refrained from participating in threads talking about it because it simply isn't worth the hassle.

I meant I ordered ASA yellow, got lime green ABS-T.  It's to me (computer dude) some kind of SKU mapping mismatch.  I went on support, and the poor devil there only knows what is on his screen, does not understand the computer could make a mistake, sent me screen shot of Easy ABS, so I sent him picture of ABS-T.  Ugh.

Is there a way to salvage this stuff?  I don't need headache and am more inclined to just put it in the round bin.

OK , if it was me I would complain about it to Prusa, see if you can get what you ordered, aside from that because I printed a half a roll of this stuff and then, throw the rest in the garbage. I gave up on it an I was able to print it finally good, but it's not something good, I will Not buy again, frankly I'd rather print nylon.

Thanks Cheese.  It was a dog-pile-on-the rabbit day and the cust service dude did his best to stick with the script.  he's gonna ask the web devs if there was some screw up and if they find something off, he'll try and make it good.  Otherwise, I got me a new paper weight.  Thanks for listening and steering me away from even trying to print that stuff.  I've got printing ASA lime green down - I have a bunch of it.  I just wanted to try my first roll of ASA in a new color for me - yellow.

Computer glitches.

I'm not sure why they are trying to introduce this version,

The were shipping this in 2017 - lol - they probably have a bunch on hand and are trying to dump it onto unsuspecting customers and/or make extra money on shipping the correct material if someone complains. "Oh, I see. Yes, we sent the wrong stuff, but shipping it back to us will cost you a lot of money. Tell you what, we'll sell you the right stuff for half off and you can keep the ABS-T."

ASA is great stuff, but ABS-T not so much.

@swiss_cheese

When I went into contracting manufacturing for a few years, I opened a retail store to bide my time between contracts. I really tried to be ethical, but it cost me money; the competition was doing things like the above all the time, and I understood why. The store lasted 3 years. Tandy's Incredible Universe moved in next door. They spent more on weekend advertising than I made in a month. Then when customers started coming in with stuff they bought from Universe and wanted me to integrate it with stuff they had bought from me for free... well, after telling them that the part would have cost them less from my store, and would have been compatible out of the box, I'd quote the service charge to do the work. People continued to choose the super store.

Hello,

i tried to make sense of your posts but i could not and so i want to respond... 😀

Please also excuse my not-perfect english, i am from Germany and write in english not so often.

In your first post you say you ordered "ASA" without colour mentioned.

Some posts later "No, I ordered ABS, ...."

Then again "I meant I ordered ASA yellow, got lime green ABS-T."

To my knowledge, Prusa currently does not offer ASA in yellow colour and they never did.

PRUSAMENT ASA in yellow (made by Prusa themselves) does not exist currently.

Also, Prusa does not sell ABS-T in their shop at all.

They sell "EasyABS yellow-green" from another manufacturer (i think it is the czech company "Filament PM" ): https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/filament/35-yellow-green-easyabs-filament-1kg.html#

Then, Filament PM offers ABS-T on their own website, but i wonder how that material could find its way to you if you ordered from the Prusa Shop...

https://shop.filamentpm.com/abs/abs-t/filament-pm-abs-t-yellow-green-1-75-mm-1-kg-1

So, please check your order confirmation what you really ordered. I assume it could only be the EasyABS yellow-green 😀

Best regards

Stefan

Hello Stephan

I kept m ixing up the ABS and ASA in my post.  The Prusa shop told me I had ordered easy ABS in yellow green.  This is what I received.

I know they don't sell it.  But they shipped it to me.  I tried to tell the person on the chat (Steve) that I could not have ordered what they shipped me because they do not sell it - but that did not matter to him.  As to color of ASA, my eyes are not good.  Even if I was drunk and ordered Easy ABS, what I received was not that.

Before I order something, I research how to print it.  Having received this surprise replacement I looked into how to print it.  There isn't much information except posts on this forum - where most people seem to have decided it is very difficult to print - and most threw it away.  I feel I might not even open it to try - I don't need the aggravation.

It certainly does not qualify as "easy ABS" either - which is what my order says I ordered.  That doesn't seem to matter to Prusa chat support - It's some kind of ABS so that's the stuff as far as they are concerned.

@dan-rogers

You indeed received a material that Prusa does not sell.

If i were you, i would check my email for the order confirmation from Prusa.

I suspect you might find a confirmation that you ordered "EasyABS yellowgreen"

If you insist in getting what you ordered, write a email to them and attach the photo of the ABS-T and your order confirmation.

The chat is faster but "volatile", a email is not 😀

You can also log in to the Prusa shop and add a message at your orders:

Not sure if anybody reads this if a order is already fulfilled, but i would give it a try...

@dan-rogers

I have a roll of black that nearly always warps and sticks poorly.  I have another role that is yellow that sticks well and warps less.
