Nozzle touching top layer of large object.

Hi all. I’m having an issue with my MK3S+ where it looks like the nozzle is dragging across the top layer of my large print in 2 corners. Does anyone know what might be going on? It doesn’t appear to have peeled off the bed in those corners.  Prusament PLA, 0.2mm layer height, 4 perimeters, 5 top layers/4 bottom, 15% grid infill, otherwise default 0.2mm Quality profile settings. Thanks!

Can you show the bottom of that same print?  That would be most informative.

One thing comes to mind - did you have ironing enabled?

Second thought.  Open that model in the slicer program, slice it, and then in the post-slice preview, zoom in on that surface.  Are those blemishes sliced into the model?  The shape does not look like an underlying infill problem - as that would be quite odd infill pattern.

Third thought is warping - and if you look closely at that second shot of the leading edge the print is lifted off of the bed.  That shape, without some modifications, is going to take all of your warp-busting mojo (start with a 3mm brimm).  Since the "feathers" mirror the curved outer shape, I'm going to make the "yup it's dragging all right" call on warping.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that the part is warping up slightly on the two ends in question.

try cleaning the bed very well with unscented dish washing liquid and the hottest water you can stand, no IPA after and don't touch the surface. also you may try using a brim.

Hi thank you for the reply! I did not use ironing and the blemishes do not look like they’re sliced into it. I wasn’t able to get a good photo of the bottom showing what I think you’re looking for (different finish where it lifted)  since it’s so dark, but on second glance I can tell it did indeed lift off the bed in the areas that have the artifacts on top. So I believe your third thought is the correct one.  I’ll use glue stick and a 3mm brim. Thanks again!

RE: Nozzle touching top layer of large object.

with those large flat prints lifting can definitely be an issue.  Even with adhesive I've seen it pull the plate right up.  Someone on here suggested binder clips in the case you actually see that.  I've not printed anything again that cause it to pull the plate up but that's what I plan to do if I see that case again.  you're probably going to be ok with the additional adhesive in this case.  Min was an extreme case where it fill nearly the whole sheet lol

Interesting and good to know! Thanks. I’ll post back here what happens with the glue stick and brim. Just need to wait for some more filament to arrive first lol.
