Newbie needing some assistance on a print
Hello! Came across a file to print a finger chopper magic trick that my kid saw at a party. Wanted to print it but I'm guessing there are other steps involved that I'm not familiar with.
The downloaded file was in a .step extension, which prusa slicer was able to open, however when I sliced and printed, it came out as a solid piece and doesn't work as it should.
How do I tell if this was meant to be printed as a whole, or if I need to print the pieces separate and assemble? If printing separate, how do I go about separating the pieces to print? Thanks!
File in question:

That looks like five parts to print and assemble...
You will need to rotate some of them to get clean prints.
Cheerio,

Cheerio,
I was suspecting it might need to be printed in parts, however no idea how to do that. Any suggestions would be appreciated?
I'm not going to create an account to download it, so this is generic:
Import the file. Select the assembly. Click the 'Split to Objects' icon (at top). Click on free space to deselect. Click on the 'Arrange' icon (also at top).
You should now see all the parts. They are probably not oriented well for printing so you may need to rotate them.
Cheerio,

I'm using the mk3s with PLA and that would be awesome. I would also appreciate if you could let me know what software and how you ended up doing this with so I can learn to do it for myself as well. Are the steps similar to those outlined above by Diem?

Thank you. Will try this when I get home.

RE: Newbie needing some assistance on a print
@print_n00b Be careful what you feed your printer with, it is generally not a good idea to print g-code you downloaded from somewhere (even from this forum). 3D-printers are machines capable of self destructing.
@hello Better post the slicer project, so the OP can see the settings and slice the model.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!
RE: Newbie needing some assistance on a print
@robin thank you. I haven't even considered malicious gcode could potentially ruin your printer. Will definitely be more cautious in the future.
@hello the print came out great and best of all, works! My son was so amazed, again.
