My Dragon has a broken neck
I bought the I3 kit a month ago and assembled it. Feeling proud of my achievement, I left it overnight printing the dragon supplied on the CF card. The following morning I found that although the print had completed, the X axis had shifted at one point (see attached photo) and everything had moved sideways about 0.6mm. I thought maybe because it was a freshly assembled printer that something had bedded in. Since then it has printed flawlessly until yesterday. A model I printed did exactly the same. It was shifted in the X axis by 0.6mm. Can anyone suggest what has gone wrong here?

Have you checked the tension of the belt for x-axis? And have you checked that the x-axis is easy to move (if steppers are off).

Thanks for the reply. One of the first things I checked was the tension on the x-axis belt. If it is too loose the belt could jump a tooth. But the belt is a good tension I think. If it jumped a tooth, the error would be far greater. The axis is quite easy to move by hand when the printer is not active. But it looks like either the stepper motor failed to move when commanded, or maybe the stepper failed to receive the move command.
What do the printer logs say about crashes? (LCD menu)

It's currently showing 6 crashes on the Y axis. X and Z are zero. So i'm guessing that doesn't tell us very much because my problem is in the X axis. I reprinted the model which 'shifted' on Saturday. It was a 12 hour print and it printed fine this time.
OK, as you say it doesn't help us much with your shifts - but check the extruder wire bundle isn't touching the wall behind or similar, keep an eye on the Y-crash figure.
It's hard to judge from an 'organic' shape but there are signs your belt tensions might be iffy -

We don't have prusament Petg. We usually use PLA, but we do have a single roll of Esun Petg. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Even though it's the not prusament, it might give a clue. I'm not in the office for a few days now. So it's going to be next week before I report back.
