I want support everywhere besides the bed floor

Hi all!

I am trying to print this spool. It has a overhang, hence it needs supports all the way through. Issue is the supports partly come from the printer bed which is causing the print to fail.

Using Cura the supports are added in the desired way, they only come off the actual print. I want to do this on prusaSlicer.

Any advice would be much appreciated thanks!

Hello and welcome to the Prusaforum!

What does the STL file look like?

I can't examine the data more closely now, but I don't think you need support for printing this component. The short bridges are no problem for the printer and you could angle the border at 45 degrees.

Karl

Of course, that looks different. The best way to solve this is to work with support enforcer:

Thanks so much for this! Sorry to be useless but I implementing this I am still getting the issue...

(when I reduced the support enforcer diameter too much the supports go away)

Turn the option for don’t support bridges to off. At the mow it’s just supporting the perimeters and on that it will likely need the rest supporting too. Sorry I’m not at a pc at the moment so can’t point you to the actual location but it’s under print setting>support iirc.

@harrisryder

You just have to make sure that the component and support are concentric and adjust the diameter. This usually works quite well with such components.
