Fillet artifacts on outside perimeters

Hatchbox PETG, 0.6mm nozzle, and printer is set for 0.6 nozzle, and PrusaSlicer has 0.6 set for wherever it is possible.

0.20 layer height - Quality setting for PETG

This small box has an interior divider, with 4mm fillets on the inside corners.  Is there any way to get rid of the artifacts of the fillets from showing up on the outside perimeters?  Walls are 1.6mm.  A project box is what I'm printing.  This is just a small example I use for validating and tuning the print.

The artifacts show up as you can see in the photo, right where the interior divider is.  The fillet artifacts also show up more on the corners as well.

Initially I was using a 0.4 nozzle, with PLA for testing, and I don't see the artifacts in those prints.  I was able to see the artifacts using the 0.4 nozzle, but only when selecting DRAFT mode at 0.30 layer height.

I'm really liking the 0.6m nozzle, as it shaves so much time from printing.

RE:

I think I figured it out.  My wall thickness is 1.6mm, which works out well when using a 0.4 nozzle.  But, I’m now using a 0.6 nozzle, so extrusion width doesn’t math out correctly.  It was all obvious in the tool pathing in the slicer, where I could see it deviating slightly when going around the inside fillet.  I tried working around it by changing extrusion width down, but it just made things the same or worse in some cases.

Guess I need to retool my design a bit and make the perimeter walls larger.

Well spotted.  As a rough guide allow room for five perimeters to get a reasonably accurate wall thickness easily; you *can* use fewer but expect some headaches in calibration.

I changed my wall thickness to 1.8mm thinking that would suffice.  It looked fine in the slicer, but still printed with those artifacts on the outside wall.  That was three perimeters.

You mentioned 5 perimeters…isn’t that going to make my walls quite a bit thicker than I would like, or is there some other trick to getting this to work more cleanly?

There are some online wall width calculators but they tend to have just as many problems when walls interact.

IIrc the default extrusion with a 0.6mm nozzle is 0.675mm - so first try multiples.  You can try both Arachne and Classic perimeter generators and if the latter, detect thin walls - but that often causes other issues.  Also 'External perimeters first' sometimes improves accuracy but may fail with overhangs.

Or use a smaller nozzle.

Or sand, fill and paint.
