Bridging improvement
Hello everyone,
I have been trying to improve this for some time but I haven't had any luck yet. Is it possible to disable bridging? Any suggestions to improve this?
Best Answer by Chocki:
Before you give up, in Prusa Slicer, in Print Settings / Advanced, set your bridging angle to 90. This will then bridge across the shortest gap rather than the longest as current.
Layers & Perimiters, make sure Detect Bridging Perimiters is on (Although I doubt it will have much effect in this particular case, but you never know), In Advanced/ Bridge Flow Rate, adjust this down until you get good first bridging. (I find 80 works for PETG).
In filament settings make sure Bridges Fan Speed is quite high, for example 80%. Try higher or lower to get good bridges, and don't go too fast 30mm/s works.

Normal people believe that if it ainât broke, donât fix it. Engineers believe that if it ainât broke, it doesnât have enough features yet.

Thank you very much for the help, I will experiment a bit with these parameters and let you know how it went.

This much improvement, thanks for your response! @chocki

This is the reason I read this forum. I learn.
We need a Wiki to capture these nuggets of wisdom. If we have one - I have not found it.
Maybe a pinned topic called "Bridging - best practices".

That's a great improvement! I'm having slight issues with bridging I'd like to try to lessen. How much did you change in Prusa Slicer?
RE: Bridging improvement
I am noticing different values for bridging Flow Rate default rates between different layer heights. Is your 80 suggestion for .2mm? if so what is the percentage yours suggestion so I can modify all values accordingly. Thanks so much!

@chocki
Thank you for posting this. I was just going to ask for someone to share the briding settings. I have struggle with this with PETG.

@Chocki, you are fantastic. You just fixed a major issue I have had for a long time. The MK3s is making the cleanest bridges now!
Still relevant a couple of years later.

Yippiee!
Yes, that's it - even now in December 2022, this isn't yet the default setting for PrusaSlicer 2.5.0+.
For anyone else who is struggling with this setting: it has apparently now moved to Print Settings/Infill/Advanced and is tagged with a yellow button (so probably only visible in advanced and expert mode)
RE: Bridging improvement
It is 2024 and the default of bridge angle value is 0. You really need to review the details by switching to Preview and inspect the layer to see if 0, 90, 0r 180 is needed. Every print is different depending on how you angle the object and the area that needs bridging. That is why there is no golden default value. Another Prusa tech article also recommends that you set bridge flow ratio to .95 for better improvement.
