Bed cleaning question

The point of Windex is not to just clean the bed.  On a PEI bed, it can reduce adhesion and allow a release layer with sticky PETG filaments.  Is can be an important tool with overly adhesive filaments.

I remember this thread. 🙂  My bed cleaning issues are well in the past.  I think I follow Chuck's method pretty closely now, IPA after every print and dish soap every week or so.  I also started using very thin food service gloves to handle the print bed and remove prints.  This DRASTICALLY reduces any finger oils on the print surface.  I am printing PETG (90% of my printing these days) on a textured or satin sheet and PLA on the smooth sheet, so I haven't really needed a release agent.

Yes "denatured alcohol" is what we call "Spiritus" and, no, you don't want to drink it though it is said that some (desparate) people do.

I'll just give it a try and then also clean it with soap once a week or once every 10 prints or so.

I just successfully finished printing the heatbed cable cover which I broke during assembly when I applied too much force tightening one of the bolts.

Google nach 99,9% Isopropanol, das Zeug benutze ich ausschließlich zur Reinigung der Bleche.

Wie Chuck schon schrieb, Windex ist nicht zum Saubermachen sondern für die Reduzierung der Adhäsion bei zB PETG auf dem glatten Bleche. Den Film von dem Zeug willst Du da normalerweise nicht drauf haben.

You will only need the release agent with sticky filaments.  Not all PETGs are the same.
