3DXTech Low Gloss PETG

I’ve been loving this stuff.. the low-gloss is nice, the “very minimal” stringing is great.. but I’m having “residual “ effects. Clogging when I switch to the next filament.

I’ve been printing it at 270°, and when I switch to a new filament type I generally go up in temp 5 degrees, unload the filament, and then load in a strand of filament cleaner (I’m using the one from MatterHackers). After running a bunch of it through, making sure all color is gone, I then unload and reduce the temp down to the correct number for the filament I am about to load. Everything looks right, but invariably I will get a clog in the next hour or so. Then I have to replace the nozzle to get everything back to normal.

What am I doing wrong? Anyone have any “best practices” tips for me to avoid nozzle changes?

Thanks!

You could after dropping the temperature down for the new filament run a bit more of the cleaner filament through to make sure any carbon lumps are totally gone.

Also don't bother raising the temperature at the start instead drop to the lowest flow temp of the old filament before removal this is often below the ideal print temperature. For example I print Rigid Ink PETG at 240/245 but I load/unload it at 220.

Hope this helps,
Martin

I’ll try it - thanks!

Thinking this stuff would make a pretty good material for the nozzle shroud.. might print one before I try unloading

I used the low-gloss black PETG from 3DXTech for my extruder parts and I think it has helped me fend off the filament sensor problems some folks have had. I have printed every color I have and only had one problem with Prusa orange PET- which mas my own fault leaving the little cover thingy off.
I print it at 255- 260.... the Flat Dark Earth is an awesome color as well

I do like the filament.. might just try it on the extruder 😉
