Z axis motors keep getting out of sync

Hi to all!I would like to ask for some help.  I have Prusa Mk3S+ + MMU2S, which is aprox 3 years old. Apart from 2 scratched x rods after assembly (overtightened X-axis gantry) it worked without mayor problems. Some month ago I noticed in Octoprint, that my bed is tilted to the right, and figured that my x-axis was tilted, not bed itself. Z-axis calibration corrected this. A month ago I installed Prusalink via Pi zero W2. I did some prints last week and during MBL printer come up with error that I should do Z axis calibration. Indeed my x axis was tilted again to the right. So I did some tests and figured that during prints it seems that x-axis stays ok. But when I turn off printer and that after some time (say couple of hours) I turn on printer left part of X-axis is lower. For example, If I calibrate Z and do MBL, max variance is 0.14mm. If I turn off printer without any more Z-axis movement and that after some time turn it on and go strait do MBL, variance would be 0.2mm, and so on...so far I came to 0.35mm. Bed is ok, it is not tilted, because Z-axis calibration corrects tilt. It is always on the left side that is lower (so in octoprint it looks that bed is tilted to the right). So far I changed Z axis nuts with new original ones, it didn't help. I did make sure, that they are not overtightened. I changed cables on einsy board (left-to-right and vice versa), problem is still on the left side. Prusa chat doesn't have a clue. Firmware is 3.12.2. Apart from LED lights on top and camera on right side of x-axis (its there from beginning) printer is stock. So I am running out of ideas what is wrong. Failing left Z-axis motor?

Tnx for any ideas!

Regards, Peter

RE: Z axis motors keep getting out of sync

As described in another thread, put an indicator on your z-axis screws to ensure that they are moving correctly.  Do this when cold and hot.  A magnetic indicator or a ziptie for the indicator.  May point to a motor about to fail.

Hi, tnx for reply. As some others pointed out on other forums maybe x axis gantry is heavy enough to move screw when not under power, another suggestion was, that when you turn off printer and upon turn on motors go to full step and put both motors out of sync - just not sure why is it always on left side. I am not sure what is happening, but I did order new left motor. Will see what happens.
