Weird behaviour from Prusament Galaxy Silver PLA
I opened a new pack of Prusament Galaxy Silver PLA that looked fine and still vacuum sealed, even though it was manufactured in June 2021. It's exhibiting really weird printing behaviour. It sputters and extrudes unevenly at anything 195C or above. To get even extrusion without sputtering, I need to print at 190C, but at 190C it doesn't stick to the smooth PEI sheet.
So basically now I print the first layer at 210C (any higher and the sputtering gets really bad), and then drop to 190C for subsequent layers.
This is my first time using Prusament (it's the roll that came with my printer) as I was using up older filament previously and had no issues with extrusion or sputtering (though I print them at a consistent 195C). It shouldn't be a case of wet filament as well, as the roll came out of vacuum pack.
Nothing to do with the printed item as well, I stopped printing items when I noticed the sputtering and just used the Move Axis-> Extruder to play around with temperature and extruding filament.
Is this normal for Prusament? The recommended temperature is way higher.
Or is it due to the MK3S+ not taking PLA well at high temperatures?

I print certain brands of PLA at 225-230 as thats what they require (like silks or Prusa Mystic PLA's) on my MK3 with Nozzle X. At those temps sputtering is damp, pure and simple. Doesn't matter if its new, doesn't matter if its sealed it can still be damp. That's from any manufacturer.

thanks, i was not aware brand new filament can still be damp. never had such issues before with other filaments

That's everything but new. It means it has been sitting on a shelf for years. And for the vacuum seal… yeah, it looks nice and makes you feel good but that's about it.
