Ways to damage a heatbreak... please help

Hello,

I haven't achieved to get any help so far - I have problems with my 3ED V6 Hotend.

I reassembled it 6 full times in a row of pure frustration. First I had multiple leakages, now I added some more force screwing things together but other problems occurred (old thread here)

I always put the parts - nozzle, heatbreak, etc... on my hotplate to burn things off.

Maybe I ruined the heatbreak?

Somebody's helping??

So, I can't ruin the heatbreak by heating on the heat plate, very well.

It's certainly possible to easily damage the mating surface on the top of the nozzle, and that will ensure leaks!

Putting it on a hotplate... what do you mean by a hotplate?

Heating  most plastics above their decomposition temperature (about 280°C for PL, to about 450°C for PC) for an extended time will usually result in carbon rich deposits.  Removing these using just heat and oxygen from the air typically needs >>600°c for many hours.  If you have deposits on the mating surface of the heatbreak, then that could prevent an adequate seal.

I usually break the hotend to pieces and put the oozed parts on the hot plate, while I sucking up the fume.

I looked up:

A hotplate like this shouldn't have over 400 C max.... and I haven't had heatened up to the max.

Okay,

my Hotend seems to work again. So:

I'll give a green tllight to my approach. Highly recommended, after cleaning cloaked nozzles etc are a piece of cake cleaning...

Bye

Again, I run out of time for editing my faulty language...

Okay, hope you got the idea!

PS... timed out editing sucks too hard!!!

Yikes. Good luck with that.

I'd be worried about heat cracks and the fire risk of using that heat plate like that.  Happy printing.
