Underextrusion issues, gaps in printed lines

So, been working on this machine for over 3 weeks now. I have been printing with this mk3s+ for about 9 months with no issues. About 3 weeks ago, i started having issues getting things to stick, so started doing some bed leveling trouble shooting, but that didnt seem to help. Replaced the hotend a week ago with a replacementfrom prusa, and things were going well, then all of a sudden mid print last night something got messed up, (hatchbox petg, standard prusa slicer settings) becasue the top of my last print was a mess. I started a new print this afternoon, and thats what we have here. I figured maybe its a clog, so did normal clog troubleshooting including heating the hot end up to about 270 to see if it would just fall out, but i got some smoke out of the hotend. Took the fan shroud off and saw it was starting to melt a bit. I then let it cool, and did a cold pull with PLA, and when i heated the hot end up and loaded the pla, it predictable oozed out and shot some small dark specks out. I then finished the cold pull and had some burnt up pla. I then decided to try some tests with my regular petg and thats the first level calibration print you see below. We are stumped, this machine is causing major headaches and i cant seem to fix it. Anyone here got any thing similar

If the fan shroud is out of shape your cooling will fail ... time to print a replacement.

When changing materials make sure to change at the hotter print temperature.

Where did that blob come from?  Is there filament oozing out of the top of the block?

Cheerio,

Its only slightly melted, its something ill do when i get things to print again... 🙃

Yes, i only chnaged from Pet to Pla to do a cold pull

Blon did not appear to come from the top of the block. There isnt any fillament up there, I checked that first

Please show us your nozzle/hotend assembly from at least two angles.

Your first layer is on the thin side; it's possible the nozzle is picking up excess filament as it ploughs through but I'd expect to see other effects too.

Sometimes very wet filament will mess with internal pressures enough to interfere with extrusion; you would hear popping/fizzing and perhaps also see steam.

Cheerio,

Ill take some more pics this afternoon

I had the issue with the nozzle grabbing fillament before, this isnt happening now

I didnt hear any popping, but i was wondering the same thing. Tho, i dont swap fillamenta often, i open fillament and put it right on the spool holder. I dont think its moisture but could be possible
