Tried everything, extruder still overheating causing jams

Hi,
Maybe someone can help me. The extruder motor is getting insanely hot melting part of the filament that then jams. It is already the fourth time I have to disassemble the Extruder within two month. Already tried printing slower, putting a heatsink on and getting the new extruder body and just ever so slightly tightening the bondtech gears. All to no avail. 🙁

It's soon to be definative, but I've had the same issues, and I have two things I'm trying - the first helps.

I think something like this but more permenant is in my future. The temp of the motor housing dropped by 10 degrees for 1W of fan. I think tuning the layer fan around so it draws OFF of the motor might help, with a heat sink.

Secondly, I took a little stab at the new shroud:

I added a little paper towel as a guide to keep the air flowing over the cooling fins more instead of sneaking out the sides hardly going over the heat sink at all.

I'm not super sure, but I had clicking that went away with both changes.

I maintain an informal list of San Diego, CA 3D printing enthusiasts. PM me for details. If you include a contact email and I can add you to the informal mailing list.
