Thermal Runaway detection oversensitive MK3s
We received a thermal runaway error multiple times, always at the same point of the same print.
I'm fairly sure it''s due to the fan speed increasing for prolonged period, causing the temperature of the hotend to drop. I've now ordered some silicone socks to try and reduce this. Similar to this issue: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/1746
While i understand the reluctance to add a disable detection feature into the firmware for safety features, I believe that the thermal runaway detection needs some work to reduce the false positives:
Ideally it would only shut off the heater and allow the print to be resumed later under supervision.
It could also have a higher threshold when the fan is at a higher percentage.
It could perform a self test after detection that turns down the fan to see if the temperature recovers (sounds complicated to me, the first two suggestions would be easier)
Cheers,
