SUPPORT ON BUILD PLATE ONLY

he,

strange, the option "on build plate only" seems not working because support are build inside the model. Any reason why ?

tks

RE: Support on build plate only

The top needs support and the only way it can it to put support on the model, so it will do so.

Btw the best way to debug these is to save your project as a .3mf file (File>save as from the menu).  That will save the model and ALL of your settings (print, filament& printer) all in one file.  Zip that .3mf file up (as the forum wont accept it but will accept a zip archive) and attach.

For supports it far better to use support enforcers (enable support, turn off auto support) and place them carefully so that support only goes where you want (re-adjust the support enforcer modifier size/placement and re-slice).  As you have discovered the support algorithm can get over enthusiastic.

Once we get a .3mf with the model it might be possible to print that using bridging on the top middle section so support would only be needed on the parts that stick out.  Have to see the project to tell properly.

Tks for your input. all details were already provided under the "param.zip" file.

I am a little frightened by the solution you propose.

Here below is the cura automatic solution. Is it an inaccessible dream for the Prusa slicer ?

RE: SUPPORT ON BUILD PLATE ONLY

The .3mf file you included (I apologise for not downloading it previously) contains all the settings so the various .ini files aren't needed at all.

I've attached a version with support enforcers on the part you were showing.  The other parts I've left the auto support on but turned it off for that single one.  I've then added the enforcers on the sides.  You can open it and play around with the settings and tweak it and examine how the enforcers work.   I've also made a couple of other profile changes, namely to the support settings but also to one of the filament cooling settings.  The slow down if print time is below value.
