support is too strong

I hope this is the place to ask about prusaslicer....  I have a model with a very delicate part that requires support.   the problem is that the support is stronger than the infill is and I have *not* found a way to get the support free without breaking the part.    I don't understand hardly at all all the fancy settings in prusaslicer but I'm thinking that what I have to do is either make the infill be beefier or the supports wimpier [if there's another way to handle this, do let me know].  I'm a bit loathe to upping the infill because that'll fill up the whole model., not just the delicate part.  So I'm thinking that perhaps a support-tweak might do the job.   Right now, I have infill density at 15%/rectilinear.  And suppoort contact Z distance .25.   What would happen if changed the support distance to, say, .5?  Thanks!

This is a problem I also have.  I have started using Simplify3D for supports because of it.

You can use modifiers to change the infill in the breaking section.  But then you'll need to up your game on Plicer knowledge.

@tim-m30

Is there a tutorial or something explaining that?  I use support enforcers all the time but I've never understood what the "modifier"s do.

That's custom supports -- as I mentioned, I'm OK with them.  I'm guessing, though, what you meant is "modifier meshes" -- it seems that they'll let you mess with the infill.   As you said, there are several youtube vids about modifiers [look complicated! :o)] but thanks for letting me know what the right search term is.

I did and I'm amazed -- it was easy!!   I saw the 'modifiers' on the context menu of my model but I didn't know exactly what that was about.  I watched a youtube vid and was surprised at how straightforward it was [especially if you already know how to mess with support enforcers].

 I created one and when I right-click on it "infill" is one of the choices -- I left the pattern alone [I have *no* idea how you choose among all the patterns] but there was "infill" 15%  I changed it to 25% and then did the support enforcer [turns out it was the identical size and shape as the modifier, since I want to better-infill *just* those places I'm attaching supports].   I"m printing a test run now and in a few hours I'll know if it worked.  THANKS for the help!!
