Sudden clicking problems, that nothing seems to remedy

I am getting under extrusion and clicking at the same stage in my print (if it even gets that far, sometimes fails immediately), I feel it's something to do with retraction. However, this is G-code that I have successfully printed many times before.

To try remedy I have replaced the nozzle, replaced the PTFE tube, replaced the heatsink, rebuilt the extruder, recalibrated it and it still occurs.

The nozzle isn't totally blocking, after the print fails I can retract the filament 5mm in Octoprint and then re-extrude and it is fine.

I'm at my wits end with this now, I've tried to print this 10x today already and nothing seems to be working. It's something that just started all of a sudden and I'm really out of ideas now. Especially as I am using the same G-code that has successfully printed many times before.

My extruder motor is getting extremely hot, but it's difficult to tell if that's a cause or a symptom.

I had a similar problem and was told to do this. Tell me, did you recently receive your printer like after May?

I tried the lower current, but the printer still had problems.

@aebthomas

Sounds like you may need a new extruder stepper. Reach out to tech support, they may have a better idea.
