Slic3r and vase mode
I've tried slicing a couple vase sti's off thingiverse using the 1.40 of Slic3r.
Once I select spiral vase option I can't slice.
"Configuration is not valid: The Spiral Vase option can only be used when printing single material objects."
Bug or my mistake?

I just tested and the vase mode seems to work correctly in Slic3r PE 1.40.1-beta.
If you think there is an issue, please enter an issue into our issue tracker, with as much information as possible (STL, configuration, G-code).

You've most likely wanted to print the monochromatic vase, or any other STL file that was composed of more than 1 object.
Or more than 1 object on the build plate will throw this error.
test it out by clicking the part and the 'split' button above, if there are multiple parts in the right list, it's a no go.
Has to be fused together via Meshmixer or the like.
