Rotary controller not working

Today when I fired up my MK3 I noticed the rotary controller no longer works. The press works, but not the left/right movement. I happened to have a pair of spare LCD ribbons laying around so I switched them out, but that didn't help, so it's not a cable problem. Any ideas please?

Re: Rotary controller not working

Hello:

I had that happen recently and found a small piece of filament scrap lodged in the rotary part that made it not work. I disassembled the whole LCD assembly and found the little filament lodged in there. I actually removed the board from the case to find it. It might be worth a look to disassemble it and see if a piece of scrap filament got stuck in there...

check for dry joints on the encoder pins too. the very fact that you have to rotate and press the button to execute commands means that you are also stressing the encoder mounting, which includes the soldered pins!
