Replacement Heat ends for OEM heat end
I have had my prusa i3 mk3s for about a year now. I started having heat end problems with jamming and leakage of filament, etc. In the process of repeatedly cleaning the heat end,I managed to break the heat end wiring. Now I need to tear it down for replacement. Because I have to do this anyways I was considering upgrading the heat end. Can anybody suggest a possible replacement that would work with the original prusa i3 MK 3s?
the Dragon hotend is a drop in replacement for the e3d V6, same dimensions!
I would use a new heater and a new thermistor, as the old ones may be difficult to recover, and the wires are fragile!
If you don't need them now, they are useful spares for if you get a Blob of doom!
choose the long distance kit.
don't try to use the orange circlip under the PTFE . locking ring.
measure the length of PTFE Above the standard heatsink, then when you install the new PTFE, cut it to match the same length above the heatsink.
when you shape the PTFE, do it with the PTFE off the hot end.
Make absolutely sure that no PTFE crumbs are left in the tube. (THEY WILL block your nozzle. )
after changing your hot end, Back off live Z to Zero, then re do Live Z!
Next Run PID calibration to ensure that the new hot end is heated smoothly.
and all should be well

I guess I didn't make myself clear enough, or that I do not know the terminology of the parts; which is the later. But what is the difference between the heater and the thermistor? Is the thermistor the piece that has the wiring connected? If it is, then that is what I need to replace. Can this be purched from the same place as the heatend?
By the way, thank you for the other information. That was very helpful as well. As I muddle my way through this problem.
both have wires.
the heater cartridge does the heating and has the red wires (one of them looks broken in your pic), the thermistor measures the temperature and has white wires

the heater is 24 volt 40 watt on a mk3 s +
the thermiator is a semitec 100Kohm 104gt2 thermistor cartridge if memory serves me well
depending where you are, e3D online have a load of resellers, the Prusa Specific comes with the correct length cable, correct connector and a green and yellow sleeve for identification!
