Reboot when heating noozle

Similarly to this post , my MK3S+ reboots every time I try to heat the noozle (pre-heat, manual temperature nozzle or unloading filament...).   I inspected the nozzle and hotend to see if I did not damage them during nozzle change, but visual inspection does not show any issue.  What should more should I test to check for a short ? what can I fix / swap / replace  to get my printer to work again ?

Thanks

RE: Reboot when heating noozle

check the resistance of your heatbed and hot end heater

have you recently changed the heater?
some people change the heater and accidentally fit a 12 volt heater instead of a 24 volt heater!

a 12 volt heater is likely to cause reset on heating.
so is a short circuit heater

Hello, thank you for your pointer.

I've only changed the nozzle, not the heater. Can you point me to where I should check the resistance and check for a short in the hotend ?

I would disconnect the heater wires at the einsy board and check resistance there

Thanks. I do seem to have a short as there is continuity between the two wires of the heater.

How do I fix this ? Do I need to replace the heater / the extruder ? Which replacement part should I order ? Thank you for your help !

Good morning Alain,
where are you located?

If USA, then Printed Solid may be an option,   https://www.printedsolid.com/
If UK, then   https://e3d-online.com/products/prusa-specific-heater-cartridge-24v-40w-mk3?_pos=3&_sid=1e2145edc&_ss=r
elsewhere   https://e3d-online.com/pages/resellers

Or Amazon
Or Ebay
Or Prusa but shipping costs will probably make the item very expensive

for the Mk3 Series printer, you need a 24 volt 40 watt heater
Its probably worth ordering a thermister at the same time, just in case you damage the wiring when installing the heater.

Regards Joan
