Random errors with firmware 3.13.0 on a MK3S

I have a MK3S ( not S+) with a REVO and have been running 3.12.2-5713 succesfully since the version was released.

Since upgrading recently to 3.13.0-6873 I am getting a collection of random errors and the print quality is poor. I have tried both standard version of 3.13.0 and the Revo version. Reverting to 3.12.2 instantly clears all problems. If I go back to 3.13.0 the problems reappear. I have performed this switch between the versions about ten times. Each time I reflash with 3.13.0  I seem to get a different problem prevailing.

The problems are usually worst on the first print I send, however the second and subsequent prints are not without their problems.

The random problems usually consist of about 1 or 2 of the following features.

Noise from the extruder, Heating disabled because of timer, Failure of the Z axis to move smoothly, Y crash detected during bed level, Y crash detected in early part of model print, complains wrong nozzle is fitted, the temperature selected sometimes changes to 200C before going back to the correct value several times during the print, long moves are performed as a series of 25mm skips, Extruder will midprint goto Y equals zero and then back to the printing again, stopping midprint then after about a minute tries to restart the print right from the begining with a bed cal.

It makes no difference whether I send file from Octoprint or print from SD, print quality is always awful.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to try?

The same here. Error I have never encountered before. In middle of 1,6 kg print, printer just stopped printing with nozzle against print object. It showed in information screen status of print, I could even adjust parameters. There was however no option to resume printing... So, just had to reset and throw away tens of hours of print. Now flashed back to 3.12. Quite wasteful to learn that sw has bugs...

RE: Random errors with firmware 3.13.0 on a MK3S ( Solved )

I think the problem is down to a cold solder joint on my Einsy board when it is below 20C.

I started to see a problem on startup with 3.12.2 when my Z motors would stick first thing in the morning when the room was cool. Pressing reset after 30 seconds would usually cure this problem. After trying all sorts of fixes and false leads I finally tried a bit of cold spray on the board and the error became repeatable, therefore I guessed it was a cold solder joint . Despite a couple of days of looking for the fault on the board I can't find it and have resorted to buying a new board. Problems appear to have disappeared with this new board, fingers crossed.

Why it seemed to affect 3.13.0 worse than 3.12.2 I don't know.
