Prusa mk3s+ showing weird symbols and failing to print
Hi!
I bought my prusa kit in December and have been printing since March, this week I came back home to find the printer had stopped and the screen was moving extremely slow. Now it does not complete any print and stops shortly after it begins with no explicit error message, does not seem to be overheating based on the temperatures on the screen. It sometimes changes the screen to wild letters (see attached)
So far I have tried...
1. updating the firmware
2. changing the filament
3. checking for pinched wires
4. printing the benchy/other .stl files
RE: Prusa mk3s+ showing weird symbols and failing to print
When you flashed the firmware, did you use the EXACT CORRECT image for your model printer?
Spelling counts. 😉
RE: Prusa mk3s+ showing weird symbols and failing to print
- Have you tried to reset the firmware to factory defaults? This should initialize possibly garbled state on the einsy board.
- Checked if the connectors of the 2 ribbon cables sit properly in their sockets?
The display is somewhat susceptible to static discharge when you touch it, depending on the relative humidity of the air and material of floor and shoes.

It turned out that when I assembled it the 2 ribbon cables were rubbing against the bars and had frayed a bit. Ordered new ones & replaced it and it has been working since!
