Prusa ColorPrint issue

I set up two filament changes in prusa colorprint via the web page. I set two changes; one at 1.1 and another at 1.7. It skips the 1.1 but does the 1.7. Am I missing something? I do not have mMMU. I am printing on the i3 MK3. Using Hatchbox PLA.

Any help would be appreciated.

JJ

Re: Prusa ColorPrint issue

Hello Jeffrey,

ich have the same problems with generated gcodes from the colorprint website.
I still use it, but i check every gcode whether the m600 gcode was 1) generated and/or 2) generated at the proper hight.
I hope that helps you a bit.

Greetings
Kai

Re: Prusa ColorPrint issue

Although I haven't purchased my Prusa printer yet, I am planning to do so soon. In the meanwhile I have been doing a lot of reading and research into the 3D printing software, products and topics including the ColorPrint function. I tried to do a simple test with ColorPrint by loading a simple model, and specifying a layer height to create the filament change and then opened the file to read it. I could not find the m600 code entry in the code, I even did a text search and it could not find the entry. Because the code generated does not produce or show the z-axis layer height for the print it is impossible for me to even see where the entry should be made. I think the code produced by the slicer software should also include the z-axis height number for reading in the code reader software or notepad etc. This would be similar to the software that I have for my cnc machine although I think this issue could become a complete other issue for a future discussion. I was planning on raising this question too so I look forward to other comments on the topic.

The z - height is show in the g-code as part of a move command (G0 or G1) but perhaps only once per layer so it get lost in the forest of x, y and e extrusion moves. Use something like notepad++ as your text editor and it will find a specific z height (say z0.6). I actually find it easier to put my M600 command in manually using notepad++ because I can also adjust temperature etc if required by adding additional G-code.

Re: Prusa ColorPrint issue

Thanks for the tip. I will look into it. I was also thinking that inserting the filament change code manually may be just as easy to do.

If you decide to do this, you will usually find that there is a destring prime (G1 E1 for example) immediately after where you add the M600. It's better to remove that so you don't extrude additional material after the filament change.
