Thanks.  I deleted my post because I did see it on that sub-tab.

By the way......   after all that back and forth, it now seems like PrusaSlicer allows the printer settings to be saved and still have access to the filaments.

Could that change have come with a configuration file update that I recently got?

Anyway, I hope this whole back and forth is a moot point.

I have thumbnails and verbose working fine now at this very moment...

I don't see any reason why well documented and reproducible github issues would upset anyone. I know people don't like change, I for one hate the direction Firefox is going in, but it's just not helpful to complain about the way Prusaslicer on a user self help forum. This forum is here for us to help each other and my suggesting a work-around is the best I can do. Have you considered making a fork of Prusaslicer?

You appear to be under the illusion that I work for Prusa and I think even angry internet world I'm entitled to choose what features I use and which ones I do not. I don't use it so I can't comment. I have heard of Octolapse and I can't see why anyone would use that either (except for vanity YouTube posts). 

As I see it you can either raise an issue on github, fork Prusaslicer or carry on with your pointless rants on this board. I'm out.

I have to agree.  I think we just need to nudge the complainers into putting in a GitHub ticket/suggestion.  Complaining on here is like gather allies for an insurrection that is never happening.  I am sure very few developers get suggestions from this forum.

Agreed. At one point you just have to stop flocking the horse and be constructive or move on. In my case, where I had an idea for the way Physical Printers are implemented, I opened a github ticket with a specific suggestion. If it ever gets implemented, great. If not, I'm sure the developers are working on other great improvements (this is the internet, so yes, I mean this without any irony).

@towlerg, On the first point, you are changing your story and it is documentable in text above.  First you said that you didn't want to discourage the devs by complaining.  Now you seem to be backing away from that.  And it is nice to hear that you are above being bothered by any bad things as long as they are documented in GitHub.  You are great.  And what does your little philosophical point about people hating change mean?  I don't hate change at all.  What I do hate is change that makes like more difficult for users.   I have made a fork of PrusaSlicer yesterday and fixed all of the bugs myself.  It is working wonderfully now. Thanks for the idea!

On the second point, I never thought you worked for Prusa.  Prusa would never behave the way you do.  Rather, I think you are a FanBoi. 

I like your doubling down on not only the uselessness of OctoLapse but also the personal failing of those who use it of being vain.  The only use is vanity videos.

I have updated the presets regularly. I just tried creating a detached Mk3 profile. Unfortunately, it can't use any of the system print or filament setting presets, unless I've missed something.

For now, I think we're stuck with selecting a Prusa printer and either detaching individual print and filament setting presets, or just saving them with a new name and deleting the dependencies (which is what I think "detach" does).

I think you're misreading some of our -- at least my -- intent:

1. If there are problems with PrusaSlicer or desirable features that might be added, making a request over on GitHub is going to be your most effective method of actually getting a developer's attention. Mind you, they require some detail and won't have time for "I don't like", so be prepared to spell out what exactly you're asking for. In many cases, there may already be open issues that you can add on to.
2. The developers are people too. While they're paid, PrusaSlicer is a free product and nobody enjoys getting bitched at, especially when they've started with a very rough product and have banged it into one of the best in a short time. (See Simplify 3D for the opposite.) Fixing a problem rather than fixing blame is the best approach. Provide specifics.
3. These forums are really just for user-user discussion. The devs do drop-in, and there have been some good results, but it's not dependable. 
4. When the bulk of a post here is a complaint and not really detailing what a problem is, there's little we can do to help. We're mostly unpaid volunteers trying to help each other out. When the "fanboi" accusations start, it really cuts down on any enjoyment of helping others out.

I agree with some of your gripes and am following the development. In general, I'm pleased with the trends I'm seeing for PrusaSlicer. It's not perfect yet, but it's pretty good.

I never called you a fan boi.  Just the guy who basically told me to take it or leave it, my desire for verbose-gcode was a silly request only vain people want, he doesn't want to upset the devels, etc.  I don't think that was you.

Understood. Just trying to clarify why you might get responses that seem defensive to you. 

If you made some code mods that work, be sure to suggest them on the Prusa GitHub pages. The developers may well welcome your changes.
